As part of the “Last Call” editions of the Dodge Charger, the automaker has produced a limited run of a Super Bee version. The name has been associated with the Charger in some form since the 1970s, so it is fitting that it helps ends the vehicle’s run as a gasoline-powered model.

Our tester was based on the Scat Pack trim and is painted in a bright B5 Blue exterior with Super Bee graphics.

It has a base price of $63,095, but add-ons push the final price to $83,260.

The options added include the Super Bee package ($7,000), Technology Package ($1,895), Navigation ($795), an upgraded Harman-Kardon entertainment system ($1,500), power sunroof ($1,495) and a carbon/suede interior package ($1,495).

Powertrain: The front engine, rear-wheel drive Charger Super Bee packs plenty of punch.

Under the hood is a massive and loud 6.4-litre V8 Hemi that pumps out a thunderous 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The engine produces a loud rumble on startup and the throaty roar under hard acceleration brings a grin to your face.

It might not make your wallet so happy, though, with my average fuel consumption of 16.2 litres per 100 kilometres, well off the estimate of 13.1 L/100 km.

Exterior: It’s easy to tell this is a Super Bee version of the Charger.

Not only is the exterior colour an eye-catching blue, but unique graphics also adorn the exterior of the vehicle. That includes a Bee graphic on the functional hood scoop, as well as a Super Bee graphic on the rear fenders. The hood also features dual heat extractors and hood pins.

The front grille features the Super Bee name and graphic.

The black 20-inch aluminum wheels contrast nicely against the bright red Brembo brake calipers.

At the rear, the trunk lid features a black spoiler, and the rear look is completed by SRT black exhaust tips.

Interior: The Nappa/Alcantara leather seating on the Super Bee gives the vehicle a very stylish and comfortable cabin.

Like the outside, they are adorned with the Super Bee badging embroidered into the front seatbacks, and a Super Bee decal is on the dashboard.

The setup of the cabin is very driver focused. Stellantis still uses a mostly traditional setup of dials and buttons for most controls, but they are neatly organized and easy to operate.

While most of the cabin impresses, some of the faux carbon fibre trim pieces around the infotainment screen and shifter felt a little inexpensive.

Infotainment: The Charger Super Bee features the Uconnect 4C multimedia centre and as in many previous experiences with this system, it was easy to navigate and operate.

The 8.4-inch touchscreen does seem a little small, however, when you look at what else is on the market.

As you would expect on modern vehicles these days, the Charger Super Bee comes with satellite radio, and the system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The tester had the optional Harman-Kardon sound system which definitely takes things up a notch with 19-speakers, an amplifier and surround sound.

Drive: There is no shortage of power from the V8 Hemi under the Super Bee’s hood, and the vehicle has a few tricks up its sleeve to keep things in check.

There’s a dedicated Drag Mode that can be used in conjunction with launch control, combined with an adaptive damping suspension.

Steering feel is a bit heavy and slow, and the ride can lose its composure a little when you are driving across some rough bits of pavement.

The optional technology group adds a bunch of driving aids like adaptive cruise control with stop, advanced brake assist, lane departure and lane keeping assist, forward collision warning and active braking.

Conclusion: There’s a very limited number of these Super Bee’s to go around, and if you haven’t already gotten one, you may be out of luck.

You will be able to easily spot these models thanks to those unique decals and interesting exterior colour, making it stand out in a crowd.
