If you’re looking to get your hands on the current version of one of the most popular Nissans ever to be sold, well you’d better get to it because the Rogue’s getting a full redesign for 2027.

In a keynote address astride Nissan HQ in Japan, the brand introduced a crossover with aggressive new styling that includes a look at a front fascia to be featured on many Nissan products. The main feature is a honeycomb style grille and headlamps; there is a somewhat evident connection with the Hyundai Tucson, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Tucson (and its Santa Cruz twin) was a little ahead of its time in terms of styling and the Rogue is taking it to another level with even more aggression.
Other neat touches include broad cuts and folds in the sheet metal, as well as some properly ninja star-esque wheels. The honeycomb theme is continued in the taillight signature and adds a futuristic exclamation mark to the proceedings. Otherwise, the rear end isn’t quite as much of a departure from the current model as the front fascia is. Nissan hasn’t revealed any interior details yet, but with a model like this, they’re going to want to get it right in terms of space and accessibility.

Neat as the styling is, what’s under all that is perhaps more notable. For 2027, the Rogue will only be available as a hybrid, with Nissan’s recently-revealed e-Power tech. No power figures have been revealed, but the goal of e-Power tech is provide the efficiency of a hybrid with the responsiveness of a gas engine. How? Well, like the recently-released Honda Prelude, it has a gas engine but it’s there to power dual electric motors, which in turn power the wheels. Unlike the Prelude, however, the gas engine never power the wheels, no matter the circumstance.

Nissan Xterra set to return

Along with the Rogue debut, the keynote also revealed that a new GT-R sports car was on its way, but precious few details were provided.
They did, however, offer a little more juice on the return of the beloved Xterra four-wheeler. They confirmed that it will be a body-on-frame vehicle with new V6 and V6 hybrid powertrains. The one pic they provided shows a square-jawed SUV with a triplet of amber marker lights, indicating that the new Xterra will be a wide off-roader, likely with off-road tires and wide track. Of course, Nissan’s current financial struggles have been fairly well-documented, so if they’re going to release a new platform like this they’re going to try at get the most out of it. In that light, they said that a new pickup and multi-row SUV will also use the platform.
