2025 Ram 1500 RHO

The fifth-generation Ram 1500 is getting a refresh for the 2025 model year, and with it comes a new RHO offering that boasts more aggressive looks, off-road capability and performance.

A blacked-out bigger Ram badge, grille, steel bumpers, LED headlamps and 35-inch composite fender flares provide a menacing touch, and the truck sits on 18-inch available bead lock wheels. A full eight-inches wider than the other light duty products in the lineup, additional highlights include skid plates, a hood scoop, oversized tow hooks and dual exhaust pipes. Inside, there’s 12-way power adjustable Natura Plus leather seats, optional carbon fibre details and a 14.5-inch main touchscreen display complemented by a 10.25-inch passenger screen.

Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six — similar to the one found in its cousins the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, though beefed up here — making 540 horsepower and mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Packing a BorgWarner 38-13 full-time active transfer case, the pickup also has independent front/five-link coil rear suspension, Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive dampers, Dana 60 rear axle and rear electronic locking differential. Ground clearance is rated at 11.8 inches.

2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology

Mercedes-Benz has finally introduced the much-anticipated electrified version of the G-Wagen.

Driving the iconic 4X4 is an electric motor installed at each corner, combined outputting 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque. Torque vectoring allows precise power to be sent to each individual wheel via virtual differential locks, and a LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction setting increases torque to aid off-road maneuvers. A nifty G-TURN mode can completely rotate the vehicle on the spot. Making all this possible is a high-capacity 116-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery.

Fortunately, the G 580 retains a classic appearance still wearing round headlights and rectangular four-louvre grille, though a solid panel grille featuring an LED light band and chrome surround may be swapped in. An EDITION ONE model will be sold at launch in Canada, sprayed in one of five exclusive colours including a stunning South Sea Blue Magno, wearing special blue pinstriping, blue calipers, AMG Line and Night Package add-ons and other goodies.

2025 Lamborghini Urus SE

At the recent Auto China Beijing 2024 motor show, Lamborghini unveiled the Urus SE, a plug-in hybrid model of the super SUV.

At the heart is a re-engineered 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 plus a 141-kilowatt electric motor, together generating a whopping 789 horsepower and 701 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission puts power to the ground, and the advertised 0 to 100 km/h time is just 3.2 seconds.

Design-wise the luxury crossover has sharper headlight housings utilizing matrix LED tech, a new “floating” hood inspired by the Revuelto concept, more pronounced central air intake area, centre-creased liftgate with Gallardo-like mesh elements and a restyled lower diffuser.

2025 GMC Terrain

GMC has teased the upcoming third-gen Terrain set to release later this year.

A macro shot of the front driver side corner of the rugged AT4 variant shows a squarer shape of both the headlight and dark chrome slatted grille, and suggests the vehicle is moving away from the current curvier look and towards something boxier like the current Yukon.

No powertrain details are available but expecting the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mill mated to an eight-speed automatic (AWD) found in the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox — with which the Terrain shares a platform — wouldn’t be too farfetched.

2025 Range Rover Electric

In preparation for the impending debut, Land Rover is putting its Range Rover Electric prototypes through their paces in the Arctic Circle to see how they perform in -40 C weather.

Aside from testing the battery and zero emissions propulsion unit in sub-zero conditions, a new traction control system is being evaluated as well to gauge competence on icy, low-grip surfaces. Rather than a traditional setup relying on ABS, here, helped by in-house software, torque is distributed to any wheel that requires extra traction, reducing reaction time from approximately 100 milliseconds to as little as one millisecond.

More information to come closer to the launch date at the end of 2024.
