Mercedes-Benz already had a good luxury SUV in the form of the GLC 350 but brought it to another level in 2025 with the addition of the plug-in hybrid 350e 4MATIC we recently tested.

It delivers up to 87 kilometres of EV driving, which is greater than its rivals and more than adequate for most daily commutes owners would have. The GLC 350e can be charged via a regular household outlet or a Level 2 charger, and a $600 DC charging option allows for quick charging in as little as 30 minutes.
The PHEV version of the GLC has a starting price of $69,737.50, with the as-tested price was $81,787.50. That includes the addition of the Exclusive Trim ($3,800), Pinnacle Trim ($3,700), $950 for the Verde Silver Metallic paint, $800 for a trailer hitch, 19-inch 5-Twin-Spoke Light Alloy Wheels ($800), Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC ($800) and Climate Comfort Front Seats for $600.

Powertrain: The PHEV setup on the 350e includes a 134-horsepower electric motor and a 24.8 kWh battery paired with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine, delivering a combined 313 horses and 406 pound-feet of torque.
Paired to a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox, the drive is exceptionally smoot whether in EV mode or running on the internal combustion engine.
The vehicle also has a hybrid drive program which prioritizes electric power depending on the driving situation to improve efficiency.
Exterior: The Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e is a very stylish SUV from all angles, with the optional 19-inch wheels adding an extra layer of style.

It is not a design that is overly flashy or one that will stand out, but it has a subdued elegance to it that still attracts the eye.
For those looking for to stand out a little more, there’s an optional AMG Line package that enhances the overall look, as well as the driving dynamics of the 350e.
Interior: The cabin is quite luxurious, with excellent finishes throughout and quality materials even without plush leather seating. The Macchiato Beige ARTICO seats were still very comfortable and supportive.

The leather-like dash was accented by a matter diamond patter trim, which is replicated in the centre console.
As part of the Exclusive package, the cabin is further enhanced with the addition of premium ambient lighting, illuminated door sill panels and a panoramic sunroof that floods the already light cabin with natural light.
The driver benefits from a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster can be customized to show information in a variety of ways.
Rear occupants might feel a little cramped, but overall, the cabin was spacious.
The cargo area loses some space compared to the non-PHEV GLC 350 models thanks to the battery pack, but it is still a fair size.

Infotainment: The GLC 350e features the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which was flawless in its operation.
The 11.9-inch touchscreen, set in a portrait-style, is turned slightly toward the driver, a feature that greatly improves the useability and readability of information on the screens.
It comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as satellite radio.
In the tester, as part of the Pinnacle trim, it was equipped with a superb Burmester 3D Surround Sound System, a superb setup that delivers sweet sounds in the cabin.

Drive: The GLC 350e was a treat on the road, with excellent power delivery whether in EV mode or when the gasoline engine kicked in.
The comfort on the road is enhanced thanks to the standard self-leveling suspension, while driver awareness is enhanced thanks to the optional head-up display that is part of the Pinnacle package.
The Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC all-wheel drive system also improves road handling when conditions get slippery, adapting to road conditions to ensure power is distributed for maximum efficiency.

The GLC 350e also offers the driver the option of adjusting the vehicle dynamics with modes such as Eco, sport, offroad and a customizable individual mode.
Conclusion: Stylish, smooth, and elegant inside, the GLC 350e impressed me.
The overall smoothness of the powertrain makes your time behind the wheel quite enjoyable, and the cabin delivers a comfortable environment.
The EV-only range ensures that most users would be able to complete their daily drivers using electricity only, as was the case for most of my week, and then rely on the engine should extra range be needed with no stress.
