Gothenburg, Sweden: Polestar’s flagship electric SUV has set a new benchmark in EV endurance, claiming the Guinness World Record for the longest journey ever travelled by an electric SUV on a single charge. Covering an astonishing 935.44 km (581.3 miles) on UK public roads, the unmodified Polestar 3 Long range Single motor proved that electric mobility can go further than ever before.

The record-breaking run, completed in 22 hours and 57 minutes, saw the SUV average an impressive 12.1 kWh/100 km (19.5 kWh/100 miles) in mixed weather conditions, including periods of rain. Behind the wheel were seasoned efficiency drivers Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker, who rotated every three hours to maintain focus and consistency.
Notably, the Polestar 3 comfortably surpassed its official WLTP range of 706 km (438 miles), still showing 20% battery remaining at that point. Even after the display hit 0%, the SUV managed an extra 12.8 km (8 miles) before reaching a charger, ensuring the attempt ended under its own power.

“This official Guinness World Record for range is another proof point that Polestar 3 is setting new standards,” said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller. “We are very proud to say we have a world record holder in the Polestar family, and we will continue to push the boundaries of technology and electric performance.”
Matt Galvin, Polestar UK’s Managing Director, highlighted the achievement’s significance for consumer perception: “For a large premium SUV to go well beyond the distance from London to Edinburgh on a single charge is truly impressive. This record helps put to rest the idea that EVs can’t go far.”

The attempt was closely monitored by Guinness World Records adjudicator Paulina Sapinska. To ensure complete transparency, telematics provider Webfleet supplied detailed video documentation, odometer readings, GPS tracking, and battery data. The SUV ran on standard 20-inch wheels with Michelin Sport 4 EV tires and had no performance or range modifications. The AA provided logistical support throughout the run.
This milestone comes at a time when EV range anxiety remains one of the last major hurdles to mass adoption. By setting a new world record without altering the production-spec vehicle, Polestar not only demonstrates the technological capability of its latest model but also sends a strong message to drivers considering the switch to electric: real-world range is advancing rapidly.

For Polestar, the achievement is a high-profile boost for the Polestar 3, which is already positioned as a performance-oriented luxury SUV with sustainability at its core. And for the industry at large, it’s another step toward redefining what electric vehicles can do, one Guinness World Record at a time.
