Over the years in this line of work, I have been privileged to get behind the wheel of some pretty special vehicles.

But it is hard to remember one that comes close to the luxurious, hotel-on-wheels feel of the 2025 Range Rover P530 Autobiography LWB 7-Seat Sport Utility Vehicle I drove recently.
The Obsidian Black Satin Range Rover had a base price of $194,550, with three rows of seats, decent cargo room and off-road capability baked into its DNA.
Powertrain: The Range Rover is as powerful as it is luxurious.

Under the hood is a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 engine that delivers 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque in a smooth and effortless manner.
The all-wheel drive luxury SUV is outfitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
While a very beautiful vehicle, the Range Rover is also a capable utility vehicle, with some off-road capability and a towing capacity of up to 8,200 pounds with the V8 engine and when equipped with the Towing Pack, which includes a tow hitch receiver and Advanced Tow Assist.

Exterior: There isn’t really a bad angle from which to enjoy the Range Rover.
From the front grille, the smooth and clean lines of the body panels – includes inlaid door handles that pop out when you approach, to the elegant 23-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, it is an eye-catching vehicle.
At the back, the rear hatch opens in two sections, with the main door and a lower quarter section that only needs to be opened when needed. And despite being a cargo area, it is finished with plush carpeting that is befitting the rest of the interior materials.

Interior: Opening the door and slipping inside the Range Rover, you are welcomed by an opulent and luxurious cabin.
From the Perlino perforated semi-aniline leather seating, complemented by the Natural Ecru Walnut veneer trim pieces, the cabin is simply sublime.
I found that the third row of seating was on the tight side, and with them in use, you are also limiting your cargo space.
All the seats can be controlled electronically through the touchscreen in the dashboard, which is a neat feature.

Infotainment: With a plush interior comes a top-of-the-line infotainment system including a 13.1-inch screen. It is powered by the brand’s latest Pivi Pro interface, a very slick system.
It includes Amazon’s Alexa, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
It also comes with navigation satellite radio and wireless device charging.
The 13.7-inch digital gauge cluster also provided crisp, clear information to the driver.
Our tester featured the available rear-seat entertainment system with a pair of 11.4-inch screens and wireless headsets.
Drive: The Range Rover almost floats above the pavement, with a very plush ride that insulated occupants from almost all road imperfections. The suspension setup, including an adjustable air suspension, ensures the ultimate comfort for passengers.
The drive mode can be adjusted to match your need, but all of them deliver a comfortable experience.
Conclusion: At nearly 200K, this Range Rover is a pricey ride, but one that certainly has its charm. The cabin is welcoming, airy and comfortable, while the V8 delivery potent power. The outside styling is attractive, and I enjoyed the satin finish of the exterior paint even if I couldn’t figure out for a few days if the vehicle was black or indeed green.
