2026 Hyundai Elantra N TCR Coming to Canada

2026 Hyundai Elantra N TCR

Since November, the ever-growing pool of Hyundai N fans – “N-thusiasts”, according to Hyundai — in Canada has waited. They have perused the brand’s social media channels, scoured their favourite car news sites and maybe even prayed to the car Gods…is Hyundai going to bring the recently announced high-performance Elantra N TCR to Canada?

Well, as of this week, all that waiting is over because it’s official: they are bringing it here. Oh, are they ever.

The N TCR is so named for the successful touring car version of the brand’s popular compact sedan. All that on-track success has led to the delivery of a manic Elantra with sky-high gooseneck spoiler, special 19-inch forged wheels, performance blue seatbelts in front, Alcantara steering wheel, handbrake lever, gearknob and armrest and requisite badging inside and out. A set of four-piston monoblock front calipers with two-piece front rotors are on-hand to help ensure that braking performance is up to snuff even after long lapping sessions.

Lapping sessions made that much hotter by the power on tap – 276 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque (same as the Elantra N), fed through either an eight-speed dual-clutch auto or six speed manual, on to a limited-slip differential and through to the front wheels. Before you automatically give the driving-engagement laurels to the six speed, know that only the auto cars get the N Grin Shift button that boosts horsepower to 286 for a limited amount of time.

All N TCRs, meanwhile, get a host of customizable drive parameters an electronically controlled suspension for more responsiveness when you want it on the track, and more comfort when it’s time to drive home from the track.

Speaking of those N-thusiasts: Hyundai will be hosting 10 from across all Canadian provinces at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (“Mosport” to some) in August for first-hand experience with the N-TCR among friends and media…and perhaps even a racing driver or two.

The 2026 Hyundai Elantra N TCR will be available later this year, starting at $47,599 for the manual, and $49,199 for the auto.
