On the eighth day of Christmas!

I get to make two picks for the 12 Rides of Christmas, so I have technically made three – and here are the next two: The 2018 Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h.

Choosing between them is nearly as difficult as telling these fraternal twins apart. There are very few visual differences in these siblings save for subtle badging on the outside and power choice under the hood. And the songs they sing.

Lexus Canada sent the beauties for evaluation, suspecting I think that it would be difficult to choose between them. It was. I fell in love with both of them.

The LC 500 is powered by a 5.0L V8 that belts out a joyously raucous song from 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Under the bonnet of the LC 500h is a 3.5L V6 connected to two electric motors that sings less boisterously but no less enthusiastically with the voice 354 horses.

Both are things of beauty to behold outside and in. Their long, striking coupe shape makes you want to run your hand along its lines. Inside, it’s all leather and suede and the latest in gadgetry to aid and abet a driver in his quest for a fun outing.

Both corner like they are on rails. Both accelerate with grin-producing quickness. Both handle with precision and ride with ease. And both do all of this without being hard on the gas bill.
They’re billed as four-seaters, but they really are suited only for two. The back seat is cramped quarters indeed. But that’s the only drawback to either vehicle.

You see why I choose two here? How could I select one over the other? Do I lean to green? Or do I opt for the real singer of the duo?

If I MUST choose one, I select the LC500 if only for the delightful song it sings. Besides, at $115,000 it’s $3,000 less expensive than its sister.

Until then, where the heck did I put that lottery ticket?-
